What happens if I use this to trigger the Genesis ability of a site my opponent controls?
The controller of the site will be the one to resolve the Genesis ability. So in the case of a Desert, your opponent will choose the nearby site where damage is dealt. For a River, your opponent will be the one to look at their next spell and choose to put it on the bottom of their spellbook.
