What does "alone here" mean?
No other units at the location.
What counts as "playing" a card?
Playing a site, which costs 0, or casting a spell.
If I modify the cost of a spell (e.g. a Mix artifact, or an alternate casting cost), does The Immortal Throne look at the modified cost or the printed cost?
Cost in this case means "printed cost."
The alpha foil version has the text for Pendulum of Peril on it. Is that a misprint?
Yes. Use the text for the normal version. The foil version is not legal for tournament ))play((.
